While Oct 23 is National
Lights on Afterschool, we are throwing the lights on LUMINA to highlight, not just our Afterschool program, but all of our programs, and to celebrate
30 years of community service with our many supporters. The evening will
provide an opportunity to walk through the different areas of our building with
the excitement of a trivia game to see how much you already know about us, hopefully learn something more, and review our history as well are our future plans here at LUMINA. This event is an informal walk-through from 4:30
to 6:30, but at 5:30p, we will have a short presentation where you will hear from Mayor Deborah Bargo and even a couple songs from our young students. We hope you will be able to join us for this
special event.

Event Details
This fall, Salt & Light Theatre for the Performing Arts, is
excited to present the hilarious Broadway comedy of “Arsenic & Old
Lace“ directed by Pastor Ryan Brosious on October 30 – November 1.
“Arsenic & Old Lace” revolves around drama critic Mortimer
Brewster, whose engagement announcement is upended when he discovers a corpse
in his elderly aunts’ window seat. Mortimer rushes to tell Abby and Martha
before they stumble upon the body themselves, only to learn that the two old women
aren’t just aware of the dead man in their parlor, they killed him! Between his
aunts’ penchant for poisoning wine, a brother who thinks he’s Teddy Roosevelt,
and another brother using plastic surgery to hide from the police—not to
mention Mortimer’s own hesitancy about marriage—it’ll be a miracle if Mortimer
makes it to his wedding.
Originally written by Joseph Kesselring for the stage, audiences may best know
this show by the classic film starring Cary Grant and directed by Frank Capra.

Seven years after the world’s most devastating tsunami in Thailand six
strangers find themselves trapped in a beach side resort on the brink of an
oncoming hurricane. Each of their hearts are broken and silently cry out on the
most desperate night of their lives. As the storm rages on and the six
strangers fall deeper into the heart of darkness another guest arrives at the
hotel. He says he is Jesus Christ, and he knows what each of them suffers from.
Knowing their dire need, he came to bring them all a message of hope and rescue
them from the darkest corners of their own hearts.
