My hometown is Raleigh, NC, where I grew up in a loving home with my parents and sister. I am thankful to have been able to watch Dad, Mom, and my sister grow in their faith and serve the Lord in various ways through the years. Even though my dad was a Yankees fan and my friends were all Tar Heel or Blue Devil fans, I have been a devoted fan of my two favorite teams, the N.C. State Wolfpack and Atlanta Braves, as long as I can remember.
I’m extremely grateful for the sacrifices my parents made to send me to a Christian school in my sixth-grade year. It was during a chapel service at this Christian school that I first clearly heard the Gospel proclaimed and trusted in Jesus for salvation. The church that hosted this school soon after became my home church, and it was here that I was baptized and that I made lifelong friendships. At the age of sixteen during a youth conference hosted by my home church, I knew the Lord was calling me to preach, and I surrendered to however the Lord wanted to use me to do this. After graduating high school, I attended a small Bible college outside of Raleigh, where I twice had the wonderful opportunity to serve as a summer missionary in the country of Moldova. It was through our college and these mission trips where I met my best friend, Carolyn. We married in 2002 and have four great children.
After graduating college and getting married, I have served as a youth pastor, Christian school administrator, and pastor in the states of Virginia, West Virginia, Alabama, and Ohio. While pastoring in Ohio, I completed a Master of Divinity degree in Church History from Liberty University. In 2016, I accepted the invitation to pastor Sound of the Gospel Church, a loving church family in Selinsgrove, PA.
Along with pastoring Sound of the Gospel Church, I am also a PIAA and American Legion umpire. I’ve been able to combine my love for baseball and my love for preaching God’s Word with these two opportunities. I am now excited for this additional opportunity to share my gratitude for the Gospel of Jesus Christ with our WGRC listeners. The verse of Scripture that is specifically strengthening my faith in the Lord right now is Romans 8:28 – “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
