The journey began in March 1998, when I joined WGRC full-time as an afternoon news anchor! I’m thankful for the many “twists and turns” of the past 10,000+ days as a member of the WGRC staff. Getting to know so many WGRC listeners has been an absolute blessing!
When joining the team, I had no idea just how close people could become through a Christian radio format. But through the years, we’ve shared together in so many different ways and settings. Ultimately, my hope is that radio has helped us all to grow closer to Jesus.
I want to specifically thank Larry Weidman for making the decision to hire me 28 years ago. It has also been a privilege to work alongside more than 40 co-workers and dozens of board members and volunteers. Your commitment to the ministry is greatly appreciated!
With that said, I believe the time has come for me to say ‘goodbye’. The March 21-22 weekend will be my last on-air shifts at WGRC. My plan is to devote additional time and energy to my full-time leadership position at Keys Connections (a Bible education/missions organization), and to pursue a masters’ degree in Non-Profit Management. I’m excited about this new chapter, for me personally, and I am also excited to see how God uses and directs WGRC in the future!
I’ll close by quoting lyrics from the song ‘Only Jesus’, by Casting Crowns:
“…I don’t want to leave a legacy. I don’t care if they remember me. Only Jesus.
And I, I’ve only got one life to live, I’ll let every second point to Him. Only Jesus.”
And I, I’ve only got one life to live, I’ll let every second point to Him. Only Jesus.”
With respect and appreciation,
Don Casteline
P.S. I do plan to continue announcing high school football games on WGRC, so I look forward to connecting with you on Friday nights later this year!
