WGRC Staff – Don Casteline

Don started working for WGRC in March of 1998.He currently serves as a part-time announcer and works in full time missions with Keys Ministries. Previously, he hosted the Morning Show, with co-host Dave Jones, from 6am-9am weekdays. As the Assistant Manager, he also helped with WGRC’s business operations and event coordination.

Don graduated from Messiah College, in 1994, with a degree in Radio/Television/Film.  He spent two of those years taking classes at Temple University in Philadelphia. Don has worked professionally in radio for over 20 years, including journalism, sports broadcasting, fundraising, advertising sales and management.

“Sports” was the ‘hook’ that first sparked Don’s interest in a career in radio.  Growing up near Baltimore, Don loved listening to baseball, basketball and football on the radio.  In high school, He started to have the dream of being an announcer for a college or professional sports team.  Don has had some fun opportunities in news/sports announcing, but in the late 1990s, God grew in him a love for Christian radio. He began to hear stories of how God worked in lives through music and other radio programming. Don also found his life being impacted as he spent more and more time listening to Christ-centered radio.  Recently God has also grown Don’s passion for foreign missions as he also works full-time for Keys Ministries in Liverpool, PA.  Keys works to provide practical training and education for students throughout Eurasia. Don has experienced the joy of traveling to countries including Moldova, Russia and Kyrgyzstan.

Don loves to travel with his wife, Lora.  Some of their favorite trips have included Ireland and various national parks, such as Sequoia National Park in California.  Don loves bike riding, playing softball and Mexican food! One thing he would love to do is voice a character in an animated film!

“I am very thankful to my family for introducing me to Jesus Christ at an early age.  I learned a lot about my relationship with God through church, youth group and my family.  It was while I was in college, however, that I was challenged to take my head knowledge of the Bible and to turn it into a heart response.  One friend who impacted my life greatly died after our freshman year in college.  I only knew Rusty for one year, but during that short time he modeled a life of service.  He lived out a response to God’s love and grace.  I’ve experienced highs and lows… in ministry, as a husband and as an adoptive father.  Through it all I see God’s hand at work in my life and for that I am eternally grateful!”

Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
