WGRC Staff – Dave Jones

Dave came to WGRC as a volunteer on-air announcer, as the founder of Get Real youth programming in November 2006. Hosting Get Real, and becoming more involved in other aspects of the ministry of WGRC, led Dave to a staff position as co-host of the Morning Show in January 2013.

After graduation from high school, Dave joined the United States Navy. While in the Navy, Dave served on the battleship USS Iowa and served with a land based Marine Corps unit as a Field Corpsman. Obtaining his nursing degree, Dave worked full-time as a registered nurse until he felt God’s call to the ministry. Dave went back to school and earned his B.A. in Biblical Studies/Theology, and eventually earned his M.Div. Seminary degree in Pastoral Preaching from Liberty University. Dave has served as youth pastor and senior pastor in the local church setting.

Dave and his wife Dottie founded the non-profit ministry, JMeg Ministries, which seeks to share the love of Christ with those who find themselves struggling. JMeg provides a clothing closet, a center for counselling, and leads short-term mission trips. Dave loves to travel and speak in churches and other settings in order to challenge believers to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Dave looks back and sees how life experiences have been used by God to open up doors.

Dave loves the Tennessee Volunteers and the Indianapolis Colts. He also loves any food item made with peanut butter. Fun fact: Dave has not washed his Tennessee coffee mug used on the Morning Show since 10/31/2014. Dave enjoys kayaking and fishing and also running. He recently completed the New York City Marathon in 2016. Dave married Dottie, the love of his life, in 1990 and they have 3 children (Meagan, James, and Sofia).

“My salvation testimony starts at the age of five. I went to my teacher when in kindergarten and told her I wanted to be saved. A friend of mine had also gone forward so she asked me if that was my reason – was I just following him? Of course I said no, and I made a profession of faith and was baptized. I was brought up in a Christian home and attended church my whole life. I attended Christian schools from kindergarten thru 12th grade. This question that my teacher asked me regarding my decision to receive Christ, weighed on me up until I was 12 years old. What was my motive? At a Ron Comfort revival our church held, I went forward for assurance of salvation;  knowing that it was my decision and that I was not just simply following someone else. God had been working in my life about baptism. Since having gained assurance when I was 12 years of age, I had not been baptized. I believe that my true salvation was when I was 12, so in 1996, I was baptized so as to be in obedience. My goal when explaining salvation to anyone, but especially children and youth, is that they know what they are doing when they make a profession of faith. I don’t believe age is a factor, as long as they know that salvation is only through the shed blood of Jesus on the cross, validated by His resurrection, and then, our acceptance of it. In order to do this, we must realize that we need it due to our sinful nature.” – Dave

Matthew 19:29 “And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life.”
