Event Details

As Halloween approaches, RiverStage Community Theatre presents the classic, genre-defining mystery from the master of suspense, Agatha Christie’s “THE MOUSETRAP” in Lewisburg! Performances will be at Greenspace Center, 815 Market Street, Lewisburg on Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30pm on October 18, 19, 25 and 26, and two Sunday matinees at 2:30pm on October 20 and 27. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for students, with general admission seating, and they can be purchased at the door or at www.riverstagetheatre.org.

Hailed as “the cleverest murder mystery of the British theatre,” “THE MOUSETRAP” by Agatha Christie is also the world’s longest-running play, with over 29,500 performances in London since its debut in 1952.  At Monkswell Manor, a remote guest house in the English countryside, news spreads of a murder in London and a group of seven strangers find themselves snowed in. When a police sergeant arrives and reveals that the killer may be hiding among them, an investigation kicks off with the sergeant (and the audience!) unearthing clues and furiously putting together the pieces before the killer can strike again. With its charming characters and wondefully suspenseful atmostphere, “THE MOUSETRAP” is a delightful evening of live theatre. The show is rated PG for some mild violence and criminal mischief, and in true Agatha Christie style, it offers a host of colorful characters and intrigue that keeps the audience guessing at every turn.

The cast features 8 actors from across the Susquehanna Valley, some making their RiverStage debut. Mollie and Giles Ralston, the proprietors of Monkswell Manor, are played by Krista Peterson and Jacob Hockenbrocht, and they are joined for the weekend by a rogue’s gallery of suspicious house guests, including Major Metcalf (Jason Kriner), Mrs. Boyle (Tara Deljanovan), Christopher Wren (Isaiah Inch), Miss Casewell (Jax Valladares), and Mr. Paravicini (Michael Conard). Sergeant Trotter, who arrives later to solve the case, is played by Declan Jones. The show is directed by Sara Jones, with costumes by Kyle Ard, lighting by Cole Casimir, set design by Jove Graham, props by Desirae Mausteller, sound by Ashley Jackson, and stage management by Jill Kerr.
