Obsession

I am a woman who loves a good pumpkin coffee drink. When the air temps cool, and leaves begin turning, nothing rounds out the good fall feeling like a warm cup of pumpkin flavored caffeine. Soon pumpkin flavors will be everywhere. The grocery store will set up a display of pumpkin flavored goodies to greet shoppers. There will be pumpkin flavored breakfast cereal, pumpkin flavored cookies, pumpkin-pumpkin-pumpkin! It is an undeniable fact that our nation is pumpkin obsessed. It makes me think about my own obsessions.
What am I obsessed with? What do I get so excited about I feel the need to give it some #love on Facebook? What kind of Pinterest boards do I have set up dedicated to my obsession? I am a woman who loves pumpkin coffee – but way more than that, I am a woman who is in love with Jesus.
I would be happy to be defined and known as a woman obsessed with Jesus.
We get excited about pumpkin because it is everywhere. We come up with new ways to incorporate pumpkin into our palates because we think about it. We have become a nation obsessed with pumpkin because we share our #love for it with others.
My personal challenge this fall is to saturate my surroundings with Jesus. To think about Him so much that I find new ways to incorporate Him into my life. To be so excited about the way Jesus is touching my life that I can’t help but share it with the community God gives me.
Pumpkin is everywhere because marketers have taken hold of this trend and they show us television and print ads counting down the days until Pumpkin Spice this and that is back. We see it and we want it. To be obsessed with Jesus we must put Him in front of us. The marketers won’t take care of that.
It is our own personal responsibility. Follow faith filled believers on Facebook. Open your Bible, every-single-day…multiple times a day.
Share His goodness with others.
Allow yourself to be obsessed.
Call To Action
Something that helps me is to plaster my bathroom mirrors with Scripture and quotes. If you have a goal it is helpful to set yourself up for success with reminders of your goal. Put it somewhere you will look everyday and see how it helps you progress!
