Looking at the life Jesus lived, His main goal was to be about His Father’s business. (Luke 2:49) There are so many things in this world to capture our attention and turn our focus off of God. Does that mean we should not be concerned about the things that are happening around us? Definitely not. But what consumes you? Is it the current social or economic status? Is it sports or entertainment? I understand how easy it is to get caught up in life and start slacking off on praying and reading the Bible. For some it can be a constant battle. But if we take a moment to allow the Holy Spirit to speak to us, He asks the question, “Who are you living for”?
Don’t get me wrong. Reading your Bible and prayer alone is not what saves us. But it is the way we communicate with God and learn from Him. So, what does that mean for our life? We as the body of Christ are the church. What does it mean to be a Christian? Well, when I looked it up in the dictionary, it gives the world’s perspective of what Christianity is. But we know that a Christian is a Christ follower, someone who received the gift of Salvation that Jesus gave through his death and resurrection. But that’s not the end of the story! We are to follow the example of Christ and the work, He did here on earth. (John 5:17 ESV, But He answered them, “My Father is working until now, and I Myself am working.”)
What are some ways we can serve? A good start is to get involved in a church. But the best thing to do is ask God to give you opportunities to even just share and minister to those around you. He will give you those opportunities. Don’t miss it!
