Over the past year or so, The Lord has been impressing upon me, to spend more personal time with Him, in communication prayer. As Christians, we hear it all the time… to maintain a healthy relationship with God, we need to go to church, read the Bible, and pray.
Two of the three, I have down pretty well. Attending and serving at church have been consistent through my walk with the Jesus, as well as my reading of the devotionals pushed to my phone every day, along with the recommended verses in the Bible. God certainly speaks to us through his word and the teachings we sit under in church.
To be honest though, the third one, prayer is where I tend to be a little slack. It should not be. There is no other activity in life so important as prayer. It takes dedication and consistency. When we are intentional in our prayer life, we will hear directly from God as we take the time to listen to his still, small voice.
People of prayer are those who depend on prayer to live as they do water, food, and shelter. We NEED to pray as though everything depended on it. Prayer is simply being in the presence of God. What is more profitable to life and sweeter to our souls than prayer?
Will you commit with me to spend more time in prayer as we move through 2021?
