Day 7: Where Do We Go From Here?
By: Jill Adams, Volunteer Coordinator
Our verse today comes from Philippians 1:6:
“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
As a baby Christian, newly born and barely Saved, our Lord sent me on a mission trip to Mexico. It was one of the most powerful experiences in my life and still ranks at the top even now, years later. For two weeks, I worked alongside our Mexican Brothers and Sisters learning from them and the Missionaries. The ministry provided practical and physical community development. Through this, God could witness about Jesus and fill spiritual needs. People in villages were taught how to build homes with straw bales and composting toilets using things they had around them. Many things I had taken for granted. I learned about recycling and being a good steward of God’s earth and all that He puts in my hands.
What struck me most is what a Missionary said when asked what the future was for the Ministry. She shared that everything that they had physically built, when God was done with the ministry, would decompose back into the earth. I thought this sounded crazy, why would God ever want this Ministry to close? She continued to say the only thing that would remain was the transformation that took place in the people and in their hearts.
WGRC could say the same thing as this Missionary to Mexico. Everything we have worked to build together with you as our partners could crumble to the ground. So many things in our world change every day, from leadership, finances, technology and even how people listen to radio. The only thing that doesn’t change is our Lord. The good work that Jesus began will stand. It may sound cliché, but we don’t know what our future holds, but we do know who holds our future…Christ Jesus. And that is enough to continue doing the work, the good work, that He began and will finish. He is our hope and He is where we put our trust. He is who we place our confidence in.
Another scripture verse that just “happened” to be on my desk today: “For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.” 2Cor 5:1
Human hands have helped supply the vessel of WGRC, but God has been the architect and the builder. He has built something powerful that will last through eternity as His Message of salvation goes forth. Lives are being saved through His word, people are worshiping Him through Music, relationships are growing with our Heavenly Father. That is the purpose of what we do and that’s what we will continue to do until He calls us Heavenward. That’s the future of WGRC and that’s your future too. We keep telling people about Jesus and His amazing Love.
Father, Help us to always keep our eyes fixed on you for today & all the days ahead. Let your glory go before us so we know which direction to take. And when at times it seems the darkest help us to shine the brightest. We refuse to worry about tomorrow, because today all our hope is found in you. You are the Mighty One Jesus, and we place all our confidence in you. Amen.
