Don’t you just love spring? I didn’t realize how much I needed it, until it was here. Now, I don’t care for those birds singing outside my window at 6AM, while I still should have a few moments to sleep. However, their song reminds me of the renewal God has brought.
Revelation 21:5 says “Behold, I am making all things new.” I believe that spring is a reminder of this precious promise. When the birds wake me up, I’m reminded of the new morning the Lord has provided. “This is the day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24. I can honestly say that is not my attitude fifty percent of the time, but I’m working on it, as God is working on me. He makes me new, just like he makes things new in the spring.
Wherever you may be in this season of life and how ever early you may wake up…birds bothering you or not…I pray that God renews you. Renewal is defined in the dictionary as an instance of resuming an activity or state after an interruption. Among Christians, renewal is the state or process of being made spiritually new in the Holy Spirit. Spring is the renewal of the earth’s winter interruption. Perhaps, you’ve found yourself in an area of solitude and stagnation, due to your own “winter” season. You haven’t been active in the body of Christ; you haven’t been growing in your faith or developing your relationship with Christ.
There is hope, even for you because Lamentations 3:22-23 says, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Maybe renewal for you means re-connecting with a small group or church community. I never hear one bird singing alone. There are always sounds of responding birds encouraging the song. Happy Spring!
