“Take Me”

…ON A VACATION!
Even Jesus said we need one. In fact, He set it up as something we should do weekly…well maybe not necessarily a Vacation but certainly a Rest. All too many times I am guilty of putting it off until next week, next month or next year. But honestly I think I can always use a vacation. And it doesn’t necessarily have to even be a week or two.
Just recently I had my day all planned out. I would go do my morning errands and then come home and do my weekday chores. About 11AM my husband (who does construction) came home from work, frustrated and said, “My day hasn’t gone well and my job-site’s not ready for me.” And then he said, “Let’s go to the Zoo!” And just like that we ran into the house, grabbed the kid (who happened to be home) changed into our zoo clothes and we were off for the day. We found ourselves back at the monkey cages three times just because they made us laugh, that deep down belly roll kind of laugh. I now have put this day on my forever memory list.
No special planning was required to make this special, except for the zoo to be open. All we needed was to be flexible and a different atmosphere to refuel us. I like to think that’s what Jesus meant by “the Sabbath was made for Man.”
As Summer begins, make sure, in your everyday that you can find some sort of Vacation to Rest in. But more importantly Rest in Him. He can certainly tame all the wilds of life and maybe even turn them into an adventure.
