Bob has been with WGRC since May of 2018. He serves WGRC as Chief Engineer and Technical Director, which basically means if it breaks, he has to fix it. If he breaks it, he still has to fix it 😊. Bob looks over all the broadcast infrastructure as well as all office and studio equipment and software.
Bob is from Columbus, Ohio and started in radio there at WCVO (104.9 The River). He first started on the air as an announcer along with helping in production, and slowly moved to the Engineering and IT side of radio.
After nine years at WCVO, Bob felt a calling to serve as a “Media Missionary” in India. He served The Hindustan Bible Institute in Chennai, teaching and helping their Communications and IT departments. After one year there he branched out helping several Christian ministries with their various media needs.
He met his wife in Chennai while on a video shoot for Compassion International where she was serving. He has been married since 2010 and has two boys, Ryan & Tyler.
After ten years in India he and his family have returned to the United States. Once a media Missionary in India, Bob now considers himself a missionary though radio here in central Pennsylvania.
I became a Christian in 1998 around Christmas. I already had head knowledge about Jesus and our Abba Father since childhood but did not start my relationship with Him until 1998. I had just lost my job as a lawn specialist. A friend I worked with invited me to his church shortly after and during that service, I decided to begin my relationship with Jesus Christ.
As someone who never thought I would leave Columbus, comfortable with my lifestyle, and ministry in radio and church, I would encourage anyone that thinks God is calling them into a mission field to just GO.
I had gone on a couple of short term mission trips through my church prior to moving to India. I should say I was almost compelled to go on these short-term trips to help my church document their work there. I really had no interest in missions.
In 2007, on my second visit there, I was walking through the Hindustan Bible Institute’s campus and I felt God’s presence fall on me and I heard Him say “you need to be here”. I knew that I knew I heard His voice, and honestly, I was not happy about it. As I mentioned before, I was happy with my work and life in my home, and I did not want to be in India. After a week of no sleep and eating, I finally said to God, “If You want me in India, You need to make it happen”. I had a mountain of debt and used up all I had just to go back to India for that one-month missions trip. I finally told my pastoral team what God had said to me. After prayer they agreed with me that God’s will for my life was to take this plunge into missions.
After a few personal phone calls and emails, God had cleared nearly $20,000 of debt and showed me so many other confirmations that He had His hand in taking care of all the details to get me there.
God has been so faithful to me, and I am thankful to Him for His guidance in my life since our relationship started in 1998.
