September 30-October 4
Please Note: This year we are only collecting Bibles and the only drop off location is WGRC, 101 Amory Blvd, Lewisburg, PA 17837
Will you join us during the first week of October? In conjunction with “Bring Your Bible to School Day” on October 3, we will be collecting donations of new or gently used Bibles, from September 30-October 4. The collection point is WGRC Studios, 101 Armory Blvd, Lewisburg, PA 17837. The office will be open for donations from 8AM-4PM.
WGRC is partnering with Christian Library International for one week, to equip the incarcerated with the Word of God. Christian Library International reaches out to prisons by sending Bibles to prison chaplains. They do so, depending on God and the generosity of other believers to donate Bibles. Once CLI receives the bibles, they sort, stamp, and ship the books to correctional facilities across all 50 states. At the end of the drive, we will be shipping the Bibles to the National Headquarters of Christian Library International in Raleigh, NC. We recommend including at least a $1 donation per Bible, in order to assist WGRC and CLI with the costs of shipping. Thank you for partnering with WGRC and Christian Library International. When you donate, you become involved with ministering to and encouraging those in prison.
Back around 2013-2014 I was cleaning out an inmate’s locker after he was released. In his locker was an old, beat up Celebrate Recovery/Life Recovery Bible with the pages all torn, some ripped out, pretty much in bad shape. But I kept it and started to read it and I couldn’t put it down. The devotional reading plans became my life. I depended on those readings daily. Over the years I’ve been transferred from facility to facility and kept it with me.
Last year, during transport to another facility, all my belongings and personal property came up missing, including my Bible. I was heartbroken. That Bible was more important to me than any of the property that I had accumulated over the years. Since then I’ve written to several different organizations, churches, even wrote to Tyndale, the publisher, pleading that if they had an old, used one could they possibly send me one? No response from anyone. I have no money in my account and am considered an indigent inmate. My ex-wife and children cannot afford to send me any money. I’ve never asked and don’t and won’t expect them to. I had written to an old girlfriend and she said she’d go online to see what she could do. But that was several months ago. So last month, after pretty much giving up on ever finding one or getting one, this brand-new Life Recovery Bible came to me during mail call. I couldn’t believe it. I actually cried. Out of all the places and people I have contacted trying to get one, I can’t pinpoint who/how/what/where/why the final contact was made to send me one.
I’m writing this thank you to your organization because that was stamped on the inside of this Bible, but most importantly, I thank God! I don’t know where it came from or how I got it, but I have it and am so grateful. This Bible has become my daily fix. Thank you for being a part of getting to me.
I’d like to sign up for your CLI Bible study, if possible. I’m down to just 1 year left and I’m seeking any and all information as to Christian-based halfway house. My goal would be to continue to pass the message of the Life Recovery Bible to others and to hold 12 Steps to Christ recovery meetings wherever I may go. Thank you, God bless.
